This original oil painting is part of my Takeout Series, featuring the iconic white takeout box — a familiar, comforting object tied to my Asian American identity. Invented in Chicago in 1894, it has become a universally recognized symbol of Asian food in America.

This piece features the classic pagoda. Pagodas are sacred, multi-tiered towers in East Asia that symbolize the path to enlightenment, acting as a bridge between heaven and earth. Through oil paint, I give permanence to something typically disposable.
